When I opened for Bruce Sudano, Flyleaf, The Black Keys (?).

If you have been browsing my website lately you probably noticed that each page is broken down in a few sections now to organize all the content. The events page now includes “The past events page” which my Bio also links to in the “Notable Stats” paragraph.

So that might make me look like some old Millennial to all the Generation Z kids reading this right now but look, Experience and Wisdom are beautiful things.

There is a rumor that back with my former Rock band Phizzy Lager in Akron Ohio, we opened for THE BLACK KEYS on Thursday February 5, 2004 at The Lime Spider. The magazine states it, but us the band we just cannot remember exactly, maybe it was too much “Lager” – no offense to The Black Keys! – although we know that we DID play the venue on that date according to our archives…  I usually see people’s jaw drop when I mention the fact that I used to play at the same clubs as they did but to us they were this really hot local band who was making it big but mostly very personable dudes so it’s always been hard to see them strictly as the iconic superstars they have become. I remember seeing them live on the KSU campus too. I also enjoy their collaborator Patrick Sweany’s music very much, the first time I heard and met him was at the Zephyr Downtown Kent around that time. Patrick has a strong connection with Dan Auerbach the lead singer/guitarist of the Black Keys, you can google it if you’re interested.

Another cool Opening Act I did was with my Alternative-hard-rock former band Hate Dies Hard on April 10, 2006 for FLYLEAF at Peabody’s in Cleveland Ohio. Flyleaf (A&M/Octone) back then was on their first national tour and had the original lead singer Lacy Sturm.

I will have to look for more pictures and newspaper clippings for this cool “Ohio” history, but I have moved 3 times since then and to NYC and what comes with this city is getting rid of “stuff”!

As a solo act I had the absolute honor to have been invited to be the Opening Act for Bruce Sudano at The Bitter End in New York City on May 2, 2014. Bruce is a phenomemal musician and producer, one of those that don’t stop growing as the years go by and to our delight. His set that night was truly amazing. I felt blessed to cool off from my performance and get to listen to his powerful music, and meeting him was awesome, like we say in French “il a La Classe!”.
